Funerals & Memorials

An important part of life is the last farewell.

The passing of a family member or friend is one of the most challenging, emotionally fraught life experiences  (no matter what age or circumstance  - and, not all relationships are joyous)  so it is imperative that the needs of the grieving family and friends are met sensitively.

The final farewell is an opportunity to truly celebrate and honour the life of the deceased and acknowledge the impact their life has had on others.  It can also be the beginning of the healing process for all to enable the bereaved to begin to move forward with a sense of acceptance and inner peace.

It is important that the deceased is remembered for not only for what they did in life but also for their qualities, values and the legacy and the ripple of influence which flows and also - to the best of my ability - that the needs and requests of each family members and/or close connections along with those made by the deceased person are met.  I have been fortunate to coordinate with Ministers, Priests, Rabbis and Buddhist Monks to fulfil any religious or spiritual needs.

A variety of options for venues are available from chapels in funeral homes or at Springvale Botanical Cemetery or Bunurong Memorial Park, to a garden or park setting (subject to local council requirements), golf, sporting or sailing clubs, pubs or even at home.

I am privileged to be a preferred celebrant for a number of Melbourne’s premier Funeral Directors (Iam not affiliated with any) and I am available for personal consultations.

The Celebrant  fee of $700 -$750* includes initial phone chat, Zoom or personal meeting at my home, the family home or funeral arranger's office.   I can offer guidance in deciding who to care for the deceased along with the myriad of options for the farewell to suit the needs of the bereaved and any requests made by the deceased - ie traditonal funeral, memorial or graveside; suggestions for venues etc  (if needed) along with of course assistance in planning /creating the ceremony structure and wording  giivng as much support as required.

*Additional charges may apply if a ceremony is followed by a burial or distance travel is required.

Weekend or after hours surcharges may apply.
